A Short History

Pousada das Praias was planned and built by its owners who worked in Sao Paulo and who liked to spend the weekends on the beach. The architecture and construction was undertaken by the architects Leonel Toledo Barros Junior (deceased) and his colleague Márcia Carvalho with the assistance of Caiuby Penteado, an architect who specialises in wooden constructions, who worked on the project with the architect and designer Zanini Caldas.

Developments

Inaugurated in April 1990, Pousada das Prais is charming and rustic. With time, the Pousada has received many improvements and additions. The Pousada’s staff have been trained to meet the demands of company meetings which take place in the new events room.

The Restaurant

One of the owners loves to cook. He has invented his own dishes and sauces and is personally involved in changes to the menu. The Pousada’s restaurant was established by a professional chef , Julio Buschinelli, graded international chef at SENACs Hotel School in Aguas de Sao Pedro. Buschinelli has created a menu inspired by Mediterranean cuisine.

The Pousada and the Community

The Pousada das Praias and its owners have always been engaged in community activities in the region. They helped to create a takeoff spot for hang gliding and para gliding in Morro da Vilela, in between the beaches of Camburi and Boicucanga. They were also involved in the creation of the Sao Sebastio centre of the Serra do Mar State Park Reserve and with the setting up of Park Rangers, trained professional guides, who take tourists to the Park’s waterfalls.

The Pousada and Television

As a way of demonstrating the advances made by the Sao Sebastiao Centre of the State Park Reserve of Serra do Mar, the owners of the Pousada created the radical and amusing television series Direto das Praias (Straight from the Beaches), 40 episodes were shown on Community TV over a two year period. The series will return to the air on Thursdays at midnight on the Sao Paulo City Community channel, (channel 14 of TVA and NET).
